Dear Friends and Family,

Belated Happy New Year to all of you!  The beginning of each new year provides an opportunity to reflect God's faithfulness in our lives — how he has blessed, protected, provided and lead us over the past year.  It's also a time of anticipation of what the coming year may hold.  Because of God's faithfulness in the past, we can have confidence to face the future.

Our home assignment began in October, when we hurried back to Canada to be with Glenna's parents after her father, Dale, suffered a severe stroke.  Although we do not always understand God's ways, we were grateful to be able to have two weeks with Dale before he went to be with the Lord.  Through this difficult time of adjustment, we have felt the Lord's comfort and strength and we appreciate so much the prayers and support of family and friends.

As well as spending as much time as possible with our families, we have had the opportunity to visit several churches in the US and Canada to give an update of our work and ministry in Tanzania.  It is always a joy to share God's faithfulness and blessing and of how people's lives are being changed.  It is also encouraging to hear that God is challenging the hearts of many who hear our reports.

We were delighted to learn that God has provided a huge shipping container for John's churches in Virginia, which they will be loading with various items to ship to Tanzania.  This will enable us to distribute used clothing to needy people and meet some of the other needs as well.  We rejoice in God's great goodness!

February 10th is our departure date to return to Tanzania.  We plan to spend a couple days in Dar es Salaam to take care of a few business matters and scout out vehicles available for purchase.  Then, after a short period of getting reestablished at home in Mwanza, we expect to be picking up where we left off, venturing out to the remote villages with our seminar ministry.  There are already two churches waiting for us to come!

One of our goals this year is to purchase Swahili Bibles wholesale, to carry to the villages, and make available for the people.   The Bibles would be offered at a subsidized, affordable price as they are generally not available in the remote areas.   We will also be continuing to raise awareness and funds to assist with roofing of unfinished churches as well as the construction of new churches.  Any donations for these projects, or for ministry support, would be greatly appreciated and can be forwarded to one of the addresses at the bottom of the page.

We praise God for His faithfulness, provision and protection to us over the past year.  After traveling to many villages and eating in many homes, we are thankful for being kept safe and healthy.  God is providing many opportunities for us to teach and the people are so open and appreciative for our willingness to venture out to their remote areas.

We covet your prayers for continued safety and protection as we return to our work in Tanzania.  Pray also that God would provide opportunities for ministry, challenge hearts, encourage the discouraged, and draw people to Himself.

Without your faithful prayers and financial support we would not be able to carry out the work God has called us to.   We sincerely thank each of you for partnering with us and investing in the lives of so many needy people in Africa.

It is our prayer that in this new year, we let God lead us into a deeper relationship, commitment and understanding of Him, so that at the end of our journey we may hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant — enter into the joy of your Lord."

In His service,

John and Glenna Peterson
